Creating Unique Baby Shower Invitations

Invitations are a great way to set the mood for a party, as well as giving people the important information they need to know like when and where. Baby showers are fun events that usually have a very lighthearted feel to them. The invitation should reflect the tone of the party as well as the personality of the mother-to-be. It is easy to create unique baby shower invitations that will tell people what they need to know about the event as well as give them an idea of what's in store for the party.

Information
As with all invitations, the time, date, and place are very important to include. If the party is a surprise for the mother-to-be, make sure that is mentioned in the invitation. For baby showers, there is additional information that should be included. Guests will need to know where the mother-to-be has registered for gifts and if the gender of the baby is known.

Mailed or Hand-Delivered?
Whether the invitations will go through the mail or if they will all be hand-delivered has a large impact on the design of the invitation. If it is being mailed, then the invitation will have to fit a standard card envelope. If it they are being hand-delivered, then all sorts of 3-D designs can be used.

Photo Invitations
Having to mail invitations doesn't mean that you can't create unique baby shower invitations. There are many sites online as well as brick-and-mortar retailers that can take photos and use them to print up one-of-a-kind invitations. Pictures of the mother-to-be or the sonogram are good candidates for a photo invitation.

Cutout Invitations
Using baby-related cutouts as the card for the invitation is another way to create unique baby shower invitations that can easily be mailed. Possible cutouts could be of a pacifier, a stork, or a bottle.

Scrolled Invitations
Print all the baby shower information on baby related or other unique stationary and then rolling it up as a scroll tied with a ribbon. These unique baby shower invitations will need to be hand-delivered as the scrolls would get flattened in the mail, ruining the effect.

Creative Containers
Party supply stores and craft stores carry a wide variety of small containers from small pails and lanterns to mini paper boxes and baskets. Placing pieces of card stock paper with the information about the shower is another creative way to put together the invitations.

Mini Mobiles
Write the information about the party on baby related cutouts, one piece of information per cutout. Then hang the cutouts from straws that have been taped together in the middle to form an X. This creates the look of a mobile when held up by the center of the straw X.
